About this site and our method
Appliance Openings answers one question per model: what opening does the maker say this appliance needs?
Rules we follow
- Makers' documents only. Each figure comes from the maker's installation instructions, dimension sheet, spec sheet or product page. We do not copy retailer listings or other sites' tables.
- Exact model. We publish a cutout only when the document names that model, or when the maker's own page for that model links the document. Otherwise we say “not yet verified”.
- As printed. We keep the maker's fractions, labels and ranges. Our own comparisons are labelled.
- Dated. Each source shows the date we read it, and each page shows a “last checked” date. We name the document's revision or date where it has one.
- Fit dimensions only. We do not give installation steps or electrical, gas, venting, weight or clearance requirements.
- Verify with the maker's installation instructions before you cut or buy. The document packed with the appliance is the final word.
How we keep it current
We save a copy of each document with a checksum when we read it. We plan to re-open every source on a schedule. If a document changes, we re-read it before we keep the figure. Discontinued models stay on the site, because their openings are the ones people are trying to fill.
Corrections
If a maker publishes a new figure or revision, we update the page and the date.
